Examination Results 2009

At the end of Key Stage 3, in Year 9, students are given a level, through Teacher Assessment in all their subjects. .

As a guide:

Levels 5 and 6 are the standards which should be achievable by a typical student at this stage
For subjects begun in Year 7 (Modern Languages) levels 4 – 5 are more typical
Level 7 is significantly above a typical performance
Level 8, only available in mathematics, indicates exceptional performance at this age
Level 4 indicates a performance below typical expectations

The breakdown of Key Stage 3 results shows the percentage achieving each level for each subject. National figures are for 2008, as this year’s are not published until later in the year.

For further comparison, in the assessments, the percentage achieving level 5 or higher, 6 or higher and 7 (or higher for maths) is given below, with national figures in brackets.

At GCSE, sat at the end of Year 11:

74% gained 5 or more A* - C grades

66% gained 5 or more A* - C grades including English and Maths

96% gained 5 or more A* - G grades

Reliable national (All UK) figures are not yet available, but in 2008 64% achieved 5+ A* - C grades.

The breakdown of each subject shows national comparisons for the same courses, wherever possible.

At Lavington Set 1 and 2 (54 students) took separate sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics), Set 3 and 4 (53 Students) took Additional and Single Science, and only Set 5 and 6 (23 students) took Single science. As a result our figures look lower than national results for Additional and Single science.

Religious Education is a ‘short’ course, worth half a GCSE, but still recognised by Sixth Forms.
