If a child has significant needs related to their emotional well-being, the school, or another professional, may suggest opening a CAF. This involves completing a form in order to gather information about the child in order to:

  • assess the child’s needs

  • develop a shared understanding of the child’s needs

  • work with families, other practitioners and agencies to meet the needs more effectively.

If a parent agrees to a CAF the school will work closely with the parents/carers and the young person to complete the assessment stage. Then a Team around the child (TAC) meeting will be held to agree actions and outcomes. TAC meetings will be held every six weeks so that outcomes can be reviewed and progress monitored.
