Lavington’s sponsored read ‘Bookopoly’ for the wonderful charity ‘Read for Good’ has raised a fantastic £150!  Thank you so much to all the students who took part and those who sponsored them. 

The money will contribute to providing brand-new, carefully chosen books and regular professional storyteller sessions to the UK’s 30 major children’s hospitals. Read for Good’s specially made, colourful mobile bookcases can travel right up to a child’s bedside, offering an enticing display of lovely new books to read and often keep for ever. Their service supports seriously ill children’s disrupted learning, and gives them and their families precious distraction and comfort at a time when it’s needed the most.

• Monday 19 December 2022 RSPCA Young Photographer of the Year - Dec 2022 Congratulations to Joshua in Year 10 who was awarded 1st Prize in his age category (12-15 years) at the RSPCA Young Photographer of the Year award for his photograph of a pelican in Namibia. He accepted his award from Chris Packham at a ceremony at the Tower of London.

• Friday 29 April 2022 Green Day The student council have planned a ‘Green Day’ next Friday (6th May) to fundraise and raise awareness of environmental needs. There will be a non-uniform day and the council are working on additional ways the school community can support the environment which will be spotlighted and shared over the coming weeks.

• Monday 4 October 2021 Black History Month For more than 30 years, October has been celebrated as Black History Month. The month gives us the opportunity to recognise, research and revive the stories and contributions of Black people throughout history. Students are completing tasks each day to expand their knowledge of the contributions of black people to the UK over the generations.

Students and staff are encouraged to wear as much Yellow as possible for a donation of £1. (please bring cash on the day and drop in the collection bucket) Thank you!
