Oxbridge Applications
Applying to either Cambridge or Oxford (known as Oxbridge) can be different to other university applications. If you apply to either you will be expected to take admissions tests and attend an interview.
Both Oxford and Cambridge universities state they seek to attract the best and brightest applicants regardless of background. They both believe it's more important that you decide on the course you want to study before starting university. Make sure you choose your courses carefully; you will need to demonstrate that you are truly passionate about the area you are studying.
You cannot apply to Cambridge and Oxford universities in the same academic year. Both will have a number of Open Days and events you will be welcome to attend, so if you are serious about applying, you must attend one before making your choice.
Admissions tutors look at your skills and motivation to go beyond what’s required for your current studies (the complete university guide 2024). This could include evidence of independent study or willingness to embrace new ideas. Your personal statement will need to reflect your potential to excel.
If you are looking at an application to either Oxford or Cambridge, please ensure you alert Miss Silto as soon as possible so we can ensure you are fully supported and able to access an enhanced programme.
