Last term we celebrated the success of both our musician and composer of the year finalists.  It was a  fantastic evening where our students did themselves proud showing great talent, musicianship skills and dedication to produce some exceptional performances.

Here are the results of our 3 finals. These performances were engaging and a particular mention must go to Claudia, whose performance was outstanding and an amazing achievement for her age.

Beginner final: Winner – Tyler Froud (Violin), Highly commended – Eleanor Sage (Piano)

Intermediate final: Winner – Catherine Gray (Piano), Highly commended – Freya Carey (Voice) and Eben Lazarus (Guitar)

Advanced final: Winner  – Claudia Burn-Leefe (Piano), Highly commended – James Wright (Cello)

Year 8 had composed and performed songs in class during term 5.  We selected 8 songs for the final that contained all the elements studied in class, contained a clear theme, and were catchy and original.

The results of our ‘Composers of the year’:

Winners: Edward Johnson, Alice Stachiewicz, Kate Trowbridge, Guy Williamson

Highly commended: Darcy Johnson, Tabitha Oddy, Natasha Franklin, Maddy Parker, Faye Johnson, Isobel Norris
