Our current Equality Objective will address student mental health and wellbeing as part of our commitment to preventing mental health difficulties that may start in adolescence - but have a greater impact in adult life.
This involves a number of aspects, such as:
Investigating the role of mindfulness and yoga in supporting young people with stress and anxiety.
Completing a Pupil Health and Well-being survey, analysing results and taking action to address any concerns.
Working with the Youth Engagement Officer to educate young people about online safety and other issues which can cause stress
Providing training for pastoral staff in dealing with young people with low mood and depression and self-harm
Trialling different interventions to support individual needs.
Updating the PSHE programme to include age-appropriate information about issues related to well-being.
