At Lavington, we consider it very important that our young people learn to support each other. To this end, we have two roles for students, both of which provide another layer of support for our students.
Our older students can take on this leadership role which is aimed at supporting the care and well-being of younger students. Pastoral Prefects go through an application and interview process before attending intensive training on areas such as conflict resolution and anti-bullying. They have also recieved training from the Diana Award on anti-bullying.
Pastoral Prefects play an important role in the transition from primary school and offer a games club at lunchtimes for Year 7 and 8 students. They may also be assigned to work with individual students who may benefit from the support of an older role model.
Our year 8 students act as ‘Buddies’ to Year 7, ensuring that they welcome the youngest students to Lavington and provide a friendly face and listening ear. They also support the transition process.
The Pastoral Prefects are aiming to launch new clubs after half term.
